About us

The idea to establish a centre for social assistance emerged in 2013 when the Patriarchal Parish of the Holy Trinity moved to Oakleigh.

At that time, an increasing number of Russian speaking migrants were becoming members of the Parish and seeking assistance in their challenging circumstances. In response to the demand, a significant amount of volunteer work has been done to help people in need.

As a result, the Saint Elizabeth Centre for Social Assistance was launched in 2016 to provide a wide range of services for parishioners and their family members seeking help.

The Centre assists people who are being destitute, feeling isolated, suffering from anxiety, feeling hopeless, and having various challenges including the need of medical assistance and such like.

Understanding the importance and role of social work in Australia along with sharing similar cultural values and beliefs enables the team of our Centre to provide support to individuals and families in their difficult times and enhance well-being of the Russian community of Melbourne.
